Supply List for Color Workshop
Ruler
glue stick
scotch tape
Erasers (pink or white)
Black sharpie (fine point)
pencil
Pallet knife get a thinner, longer, metal flexible one with wooden handle.
Paper towels
Notebook and pen for taking notes
Paper bag (like what you get from grocery store) & 5 plastic bags for lining the paper bag. This is for your garbage.
A pot of odorless mineral spirits (from art store, not hardware store) for cleaning brushes. Bring some extra in case yours gets dirty.
Ex: Gamsol or Utrecht brand, etc. Must have no odor.
Medium cup
Brushes-oil - These should be hog hair,(they are a little springy and stiffer than an acrylic brush). Any Brand.
two #4 flats (newish)
one #2 flat
Pallet - Something to spread your paints and mix on. A piece of opaque white Plexiglas works well. If you have an option have it cut to around 20x16. People have used glass with white paper behind it? It should be something you can scrape really clean.
Paint For this class do not use student grade paint, or hues, or WINTON paint. Please bring artist grade paint. As far as brands go, I use a cost vs. benefit rule for myself. I watch for sales. I always have a combination of Gamblin, Utrecht and a few Rembrandts.
I will be giving sample of the few "extras" on my pallet for sampling and understanding of the pigment so if you happen to have one of my pallet handouts do not be surprised if this list does not contain them all. ALSO...
I am going to premix some colors for you to facilitate the "time" factor and there is a color we use in the color class that I do not usually use on my regular palette and it is really expensive. Therefore to save time and money for you I will buy the cobalt for everyone and the other "samples" and have everyone chip in 20.00.
This price includes templates and panels I provide that I pre-make for the class. I usually have a 35.00 fee for the templates alone but I forgot to mention so I hope you all are OK with the 20.00.
Again, this premix I do and the templates saves money and time for all.
